- Keep a certain space between the cuff and arm. Ensure that one finger can be inserted
- The air tube is on the inside of the arm and aligned with your mindle finger
When you check your blood pressure, don’t talk and just relax.
Press the on button, and then press the start button.
You’ll feel the cuff inflate quite rapidly.
What happens if blood pressure cuff is too loose?
Too tight or too loose of a cuff on the mid-upper arm can result in significantly inflated blood pressure readings.
According to research, the blood pressure is typically overestimated by 5 millimetres of mercury systolic if a large adult cuff is required.
However, if you require an extra-large cuff and are instead fitted with a regular cuff that is two sizes too small, your blood pressure may be measured at a level that is 20 mm Hg higher than it actually is.
